7-Year-old Declares October 1 ‘Wear Your Superheroes Day’ In Support of Her Little Sister

7-Year-old Declares October 1 ‘Wear Your Superheroes Day’ In Support of Her Little Sister

Get your boots and cape ready, because as of today, October 1st shall be known as “Wear Your Superheroes Day.” We have 7-year-old Adalina to thank for that. And her little sister, 5-year-old, Leanna has her big sis to thank, too. According to the girls’ father, when Leanna would wear her superhero clothes to kindergarten, “the boys tell her that superheroes are ‘for boys.’ She has even started to wear her jacket all day to keep from being hassled about it,” he says.

In A League All Their Own

In A League All Their Own

Baseball: a great American pastime. And like many other “traditional” practices in the American timeline, there is an evident history of inclusion — or lack thereof — that, over time, shows to have only meant “white males” in variable senses of the label. It wasn’t until 1947 that game-changing players [...]

Why Do We Shave Our Hairy Legs, Anyway?

Why Do We Shave Our Hairy Legs, Anyway?

Why do I shave my legs? Good question, because I hardly do it. Maybe that’s because when my legs are hairy it’s not that noticeable. Or maybe it’s because I’m lazy. (It’s both, by the way). But it’s also because a part of me (my legs and armpits?) says eff [...]

Challenging What It Means to Be ‘Like a Girl’

Challenging What It Means to Be ‘Like a Girl’

Let’s forget for a second that this is an ad. The subjects in this video are asked by a woman off camera to “act like a girl” doing various things like running, throwing and fighting. Their response is probably not that unfamiliar to you or I; we’ve been taught all our [...]
