Get your boots and cape ready, because as of today, October 1st shall be known as “Wear Your Superheroes Day.” We have 7-year-old Adalina to thank for that. And her little sister, 5-year-old, Leanna has her big sis to thank, too. According to the girls’ father, when Leanna would wear her superhero clothes to kindergarten, “the boys tell her that superheroes are ‘for boys.’ She has even started to wear her jacket all day to keep from being hassled about it,” he says.
And THAT is just not right. So Super Girl Adalina, in an amazing show of solidarity and sisterly support, went ahead and declared October 1st the new ”Wear Your Superheroes Day” to help her sister, and all little (and big) girls out there, feel ok about showing their love for superheroes.
To celebrate the new holiday and show your support, the girls (and their dad) are asking that we share our photos using the hashtag #WearYourSuperheroes and tag @WearSuperheroes on Twitter, @wearyoursuperheroes on Instagram, or post on their event page on Facebook.
Photos will be featured on their social media feed as well as their website.
In case you were curious, Adalina’s favorite superheroes are Storm, Batgirl, and Hawkgirl. Leanna’s are Captain America, Batgirl, and Robin. They also both like Batman.
(Author’s note: Unfortunately, I only have Wonder Woman undies which I will wear in support but will refrain from sharing on public social media outlets. You’re welcome!)
